Most professional development content on mental health and emotional intelligence is built to be agreeable. It validates, it reassures, it avoids making anyone uncomfortable. It also tends to produce minimal lasting change.
Heal First's organizational work is built differently. The same standard that applies to our writing applies to our training: rigorous enough that a seasoned professional encounters something they hadn't considered, accessible enough that it lands across a room.
Workshops & Seminars
Available virtually or in person. Sessions are tailored to your organization's context, workforce, and specific goals — not delivered from a fixed script.
Topics include:
Emotional intelligence under pressure — What emotional intelligence actually means operationally, why it breaks down in high-stakes environments, and how to develop it in ways that hold when it matters to reveal its ROI.
The hidden cost of high-functioning teams — High performers are often the last people organizations worry about. This session examines the psychological patterns that develop in people who are performing well externally but carrying significant internal load — and what that costs organizations over time.
Stress, burnout, and the nervous system — Moving beyond stress management platitudes to what's actually happening biologically, what interventions have evidence behind them, and what most burnout programs get wrong.
Attachment patterns and workplace communication — How early relational wiring shows up in professional relationships, conflict, feedback responses, and team dynamics — and what to do about it.
Resilience that isn't toxic positivity — The difference between genuine resilience and the organizational demand to perform it. Built for managers and teams navigating significant disruption or change.
Second chances and the workforce — Designed for organizations committed to second-chance hiring. Addresses the psychological realities of reentry, what research says about performance and recidivism for justice-involved employees, and how to build cultures where this population thrives.
Why Heal First
Tavi Ambrose holds a master's degree in education and is completing a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Before founding Heal First, he spent a decade in instructional design — building learning curricula for organizations including Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Head Start programs. He brings both the clinical framework and the instructional architecture to this work.
The content Heal First produces is held to a standard most wellness training isn't: it should surprise a peer counselor with something they hadn't considered, and land with a general audience at the same time. That's the bar for the blog. It's the bar for the training room too.
Online Courses — Coming Soon
